Brooke Christa Shields (born May 31 1965) is an American model and actress. She started out as a young model and gained critical acclaim when she was 12 years old for her role in the film of Louis Malle Pretty Baby (1978). She continued modeling until her late teenage years and was featured in numerous dramas during the 1980s, for instance, The Blue Lagoon (1980), and Franco Zeffirelli's Endless Love (1981).In 1983, Shields stopped her career as a model to go to Princeton University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Romance Languages. In the 90s, Shields returned to acting and appeared in minor parts in films. She also appeared on the NBC sitcoms Suddenly Susan (1996-202000), where she was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards. Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009) was her second nomination. Shields returned to NBC in 2017 in an ongoing role as a Law & Order: Special Victims character from the show's 19th Season. Since 2014, Shields has voiced Beverly Goodman in the Adult Swim animated series Mr. Pickles and its spinoff Momma Named Me Sheriff. She is the daughter of Teri Shields, who was a model and actress, and Frank Shields, a businessman (1941-2003). Her mother was of English, German, Scotch-Irish, and Welsh descent, while her father had English, French, Irish as well as Italian ancestry.According to the research of William Addams Reitwiesner, Shields is a descendent of several noble families from Italy particularly from Genoa and Rome. These are namely (in chronological order of descent from 1355 to 1965) the Gattilusi-Palaiologos-Savoy, Grimaldi, Imperiali, Carafa, Doria, Doria-Pamphili-Landi, Chigi-Albani, and Torlonia dynasties. Marina Torlonia di Civitella Cisi di Civitella was her paternal grandmother. She was the daughter of an American socialite and an Italian prince. Her great-uncle was Italian nobleman Alessandro Torlonia, the husband of Infanta Beatriz of Spain.When Teri announced that she was pregnant, Frank's family gave her a payment to terminate the pregnancy.
