April Ross
April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball stars to win medals at many Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days she will attempt to win her third gold medal along with the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross wants to achieve more than just her first Olympic medal. At 39 she could have her last chance. Nevertheless, she remains confident of achieving top honours. Ross on NBC Boston, said that when the team performs consistently or well it could be able to win gold. It's also going to be a matter of chance. Ross born the 22, 1982, in Costa Mesa California. She resided in the area with her family. Apart from participating in a variety of sport, she also attended Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball as well as basketball as well as track and running. In the last sport she stood out. In her own biography her high school days, she was a volleyball player as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and setting (outside blocker). Her achievements were rewarded in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Players of the Year. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross has been playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017 but her beach game was well-established long before this. In fact, she won several major championships while playing in the past with two different partners. one of whom is a volleyball icon. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Together with Kessy Ross, she won a World Title in 2009 when she competed internationally. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were defeated for the gold medal by the legendary duo of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she retired. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball trophy in the Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross began her collegiate career with the USC Trojans after graduation from high school. The Trojans were a few years away from when Ross went to the sand and turned professional. She had a great run during her time in the NCAA tournament. She was a All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000 as a young freshman. She also helped her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal loss but still managed to be a second All-American. The last two years as a member of the Trojans' program the team was led to success by winning two consecutive national championships. For her part she established herself in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the top female college volleyball players in the United States. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross did not get to see Ross become the highest beach volleyball level. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. However, she keeps her parent close to his heart. Margie is an inspiration on and off of the shore.
